My research and commercial interests converge at the intersection of technological innovation, public policy, and learning. This includes a particular interest in economics and social change. My current work looks at commercial applications for blockchain technology and the social impact of artificial intelligence— particularly 'intelligence augmentation'. I am an advisor to several companies in the technology industry including CGBlockchain in New York City and Cambrian.AI in San Francisco. I have written or edited eight books across a range of subjects, and I write for various media platforms including Futurism, the Brookings Institution, Singularity Hub, and Medium. I have been invited to speak on my work at a number of universities and research centers including the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School, the American Enterprise Institute, the Center for Global Policy Solutions, Stanford University, the University of Toronto, UC Santa Cruz, and Microsoft Research. In addition to speaking and writing, I am also a film producer and screenwriter with a special interest in science fiction. I currently chair an annual conference on Technology, Knowledge, and Society for Commonground Publishing.
