My research interests converge at the intersection of public policy, technological innovation, and learning. This includes a particular interest in economics and social change. My current research looks at the social impact of artificial intelligence, particularly 'intelligence augmentation' and the future of work. I have written or edited eight books across a range of academic subjects, and I write for various media platforms including Futurismthe Brookings Institution, Singularity Hub, and Medium. I am also a film producer and screenwriter with a special interest in science fiction. I currently chair an annual conference on Technology, Knowledge, and Society for Commonground Publishing. This year's conference theme is Smart Cities and will be held in Toronto, Canada with keynotes from thought leaders on entrepreneurship and urbanization.
